Source attribution

Crediting reporting, data and imagery

Attribution is not a footnote for us — it is part of how each story is written.

Our role

Our role is primarily to summarise, highlight and promote already-published information, while clearly identifying and linking readers to the original source whenever applicable. We help existing stories about the UAE and the region — and their original publishers — reach a wider audience, and we do not claim ownership of third-party reporting.

Attributing reporting

  • Original reporting is credited to the outlet or journalist who broke it.
  • We link to the original article rather than paraphrasing it without credit.
  • Official statements, filings and data are attributed to the issuing body.
  • Where a claim is single-sourced or unconfirmed, we say so in the text.

Quotations

Quotes are reproduced accurately and kept in context, with the setting in which they were given — press conference, statement, interview or social post — made clear.

Images

  • We use images only where the licence permits our use.
  • Licence, creator and required credit text are recorded with every image.
  • Attribution is displayed where the licence requires it.
  • Images are not altered in ways that change their meaning; illustrative imagery is labelled.

Rights holders

If you are a rights holder and believe an image or excerpt has been used incorrectly, contact us and we will review it promptly and remove or correct where warranted.
