The competitive calendar follows the cool months
Professional and serious amateur golf in the Emirates is concentrated between October and May. That is why the tour's UAE events sit in November and January, and why the amateur season runs through winter.
Summer moves to dawn and floodlights
Between June and September the playable hours are early morning and after dark. Floodlit courses and nine-hole formats keep the game going, at the lowest rates of the year.
Heat safety is part of the game
Hydrate before the round, keep drinking every few holes, use buggy shade, and treat dizziness or cramp as a reason to stop. Clubs shorten rounds in extreme heat for exactly this reason.
What it means for course conditions
Overseeding, greens work and renovation programmes are usually scheduled around the summer, so check the club's maintenance notes before booking a shoulder-season round.
